Netflix is streaming the 2030 World Cup. But there’s a catch

Netflix is getting into football in a very big way.

The platform has secured the rights to stream all 104 matches of the 2030 FIFA World Cup in Spain and Andorra.

And yes, that sounds huge.

Especially because Morocco is one of the three main host countries for the tournament, alongside Spain and Portugal.

But here is the important part: The Netflix deal does not currently cover Morocco.

So if you are already imagining watching Morocco play a World Cup match on Netflix from your sofa in Casablanca, slow down.

That has not been announced.

For now, the rights only apply to viewers in Spain and Andorra.

Still, the deal is a pretty big sign of where sports broadcasting is going.

For years, football lived mostly on traditional TV networks and dedicated sports channels.

Now streaming platforms are moving in.

And when Netflix starts carrying one of the biggest sporting events on Earth, that changes the conversation.

For Moroccan viewers, the real question is now obvious:

Who will actually have the rights here?

That part is still open.

And with Morocco hosting matches in 2030, it is going to matter a lot.

Because the World Cup is not only a sports event here.

It is going to be part of daily life.

The matches. ,The stadiums. The crowds. The tourism. The whole country is going to feel it.

So yes, Netflix got the World Cup.

Just not for Morocco.

At least not yet.
