Grand Theft Auto VI is almost here, and the studio has officially confirmed that the game’s preload will require up to 212GB of available storage, depending on the console.

Rockstar confirmed the requirement in a November 3 announcement, alongside details about when players can begin downloading the highly anticipated game.
For PlayStation 5 users, digital preloading begins on November 10 at midnight local time. Xbox Series X|S players will also be able to start preloading on November 10, beginning at midnight GMT.
The game itself is scheduled to launch on November 19, 2026.
Preloading means players who have purchased the game digitally can download its files before release day, allowing them to begin playing once it officially becomes available.
With a download this large, having the necessary storage space ready in advance could make the launch considerably less stressful.
The upcoming game follows Jason and Lucia as they navigate the fictional state of Leonida, including a modern version of Vice City inspired by Miami.
Rockstar has promised an expansive world featuring beaches, cities, nightlife and a large cast of characters, with the story following the two protagonists through a criminal conspiracy.
The storage announcement also gives players another indication of the scale of the project, although file size alone doesn’t determine how large or detailed a game will feel.
