Casablanca is becoming a meeting point for the international fashion industry this week, as the 23rd edition of Maroc in Mode opens at the Foire Internationale de Casablanca.
Taking place from November 3 to 5, the event is expected to bring together more than 200 exhibitors, including Moroccan manufacturers, designers, international buyers and textile specialists.
Unlike a traditional fashion week focused primarily on runway collections, Maroc in Mode looks at the industry behind the clothes: how they are designed, manufactured, sourced and delivered to global markets.
This year’s edition places particular attention on Morocco’s position between Europe and Africa, highlighting the country’s potential as a production and sourcing partner for international fashion brands.
With global companies increasingly reconsidering where and how their products are made, Moroccan manufacturers are seeking to strengthen their presence in the international supply chain.
The programme includes several exhibition areas dedicated to garment manufacturing, Moroccan brands, textiles, accessories, machinery and industrial innovation.
Sustainability is also expected to be a major subject, with discussions around textile waste, water recycling and the use of more environmentally responsible materials.
A new addition this year is the Med-Atlantic Textile Summit, designed to connect manufacturers, investors, retailers and industry leaders from Africa, Europe and North America.
For Morocco’s younger fashion community, the event offers a perspective on an industry that is often discussed through trends, influencers and luxury brands rather than the people and businesses responsible for production.
The clothes seen in international stores are part of a much larger economic network, and Morocco is working to expand its role within it.
As interest in local designers and Made in Morocco products continues to develop, events like Maroc in Mode create opportunities for Moroccan companies to build international relationships.
The exhibition also highlights an important reality: Morocco’s fashion story is not limited to traditional garments or emerging labels. It includes an industrial sector seeking a greater place in global fashion.
